    Hi,
I need to replace my drivers seat are there any things I need to do regarding the side air bag on the seat? Can I just disconnect the battery to do the change and then just plug everything back in or do I need a specialist to disarm the airbag and the rearm it?

Any help would be really appreciated received.

    Thanks

Disconnect the battery, then wait 30 minutes before disconnecting the seat loom.

Not 100% but I think it's to let the electric discharge throughout the car before doing anything witH airbags.

Remember before you connect your battery, turn your headlight switch to the sidelights in case of a power surge and you don't want the airbags going off.

Thanks. I've heard that should be done when powering down a PC and similar electronic equipment. Just read a little bit about it after a google search. Its 30 mins to allow the airbag capacitor to discharge so the bags dont deploy. Some modern bags may need less time but from what I've read 30 mins is a good safe time.

The airbag warning light will be on when you re-connect the battery. You'll need VCDS or bring it to someone with VCDS to extinguish the light
