Then there is the question of how did the water get in in the first place?
How does water get everywhere? the lamp just sits against a metal ring and there is a loose fitting rubber hat outside of that, its not hermetically sealed, it can't stop water getting in, or out!!
The misting is nothing to do with condensation, its there in the heat of Summer (have to think back a couple of years to remember that point).

A 50 gm bag of desiccant in the back of the light overnight has not cleared the problem. It did look very much like as if there was a film of condensation in there, but it seems that if there was that wasn't the primary problem. I must apologise for false assumptions in this thread. I started off assuming the lens was glass and that as I had wiped the outside the problem must be on the inside; WRONG - looking at it with a torch this evening, I can see the outside surface is not clear, so I now think it is both surfaces. I also assumed the problem had disappeared when I looked at it in freezing conditions - it now seems more likely that was due to the lighting at the time. I'll hope it passes the MOT again this time and will need to read the various threads on restoring plastic lenses more thoroughly and give that a go - or replace - sooner or later.

They will pass the MOT, its just alignment that is checked to stop you dazzling on-coming vehicles (fat chance of that, put your full beam on, no one notices!!!)

There was a problem in the past of the internal wiring of some headlamps corroding or rather the insulation breaking down.. I'm not sure if it was isolated to one particular year of car but it has been mentioned elsewhere. Some after market headlamp units also suffer from this problem, so I've heard. This could be the reason although I'm not 100% sure.

i had the same problem, i thought it was on the inside but it wasn't, it was on the outside caused by the sun over time, I just used T-Cut and a rag and within 5 minutes BINGO like new again!
