Audi A6 screen upgrade?

Hi all,

My search for an A6 has finally come to an end I have just found the car I want and tomorrow all being well the deal will be finalised.
This A6 is an s line but even being an 06 reg it doesn't come with a nav or the screen that has loads of gadgets to it like a previous a6 I went to see. It does have a screen but no nav button and only does the very bare basics. Is this something I can easily upgrade? I have seen a few screens with the consoles etc on ebay but not sure what needs to be done. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated

sounds like the car has MMI Basic if it has no nav button

adding nav will be a major task as you will have to upgrade most, if not all of the mmi components as you have the lowest system in the car.

I'm assuming by that its going to be a hard task which means pretty expensive? Car has Bose speakers n all other features why they never got the mmi system is beyond me

Very hard task as you're starting from the very bottom of the entertaiment system.

If the car had Basic+ it isn't as hard to upgrade to High but as this isn't fitted you will need all the amplifiers etc that Basic+ shares with High.

Can you remember if the car has 4 buttons around the gearstick? I'm assuming it only has 4 as you say it didn't have a NAV button.

MMI basic then - I'm pretty sure you don't even get traffic announcements on that lol

Although I'm no expert I think it's the basic mine is the basic + 8 buttons I think and I'd also like to up grade at some point but it's expensive

Correct - basic+ has 8 but still the red screen

Why is it basic + and just basic, as in what's the diffrence I only have the traffic reports storage as additional oh and BT but all those extra buttons

Although that is incorrect as if you spec cd satnav you get basic+
