    Hello
    I have a 2011 mk6 Golf 1.4TSI90 Engine CAXA done 45,000kms
    Has anyone noticed there engine Pinking / Pinging / Detonating ??
    When the Engine is at running Temp. between 1400 - 2800 rpm with slight load.
    Yes i am using 95ron : ) still does it with 98ron .
    ECU not loging any faults.

    The 122PS engine, Under the conditions you describe I have reported and had investigated a noise but mine was more like valvegear rattle . I first noticed it quite early on , at about 3K , the garage had it for a day and said they heard the noise too and had discussed it with VW but were told it was not a fault , just a peculiarity of this particular engine. Still have the noise at odd times now at 36K, but no worse. Possibly the same ?

    Hi. Thanks for your reply. The VW dealer has also said it is pinking / pinging. Becouse of how it does it and when. I did wounder early on if it was a timming chain rattle and questioned it at the dealer but this has been ruled out.

    Run it on 98 ron only - it may take a few tanks to get the other fuel totally gone. Add a fuel additive/conditioner from VW and see how that goes.

    Hi Nigel, just to let you know.....my engine has been pinking since the day I collected the car....it bothered me initially but I was happy enough once I had the fault recorded....9,000 miles later....I'm no longer worried

    Your suggestion works for me but I can't be bothered using the expensive fuel seeing as my car is a leased jobbie....if I owned the car....I'd be using 98 ron for sure.

    Thanks for the comments. VW recommend 95Ron it should run mint on 95ron. 98Ron made no difference. Cheers.

    The CAXA should be fine on 95RON, I have no explanation for the pinging.

    Originally I was worried that it might be the VVT allowing the valve to tickle the piston, there was quite a bit of forum chat about this some time back but it appears to have not been an issue of late .
