    i have recently bought a golf gti with discs and pads on back i fitted new handbrake cables and they are too long yet the back of the calliper (where it attaches to the metal part that comes forward and springs back) is right up against the stoppers yet there is still nothing on the handbrake at all please help i returned the cables back to gsf and they said they were only 2 types and he gave me the others and there even longer and i threw my old cables away like an idiot and binmen took them

    If the operating lever of the calipers is being pulled right around to the stop and the handbrake still does not work then you need new calipers, not cables. Does the lever fully return to its upper stop when released?

    yes the lever returns to its upper stop when released it seems the cables are about 2 inches too long but obvs there the right 1s do i def need new callipers or can i not repair the 1s i have as i havnt got money to buy new callipers

    Do you have the part number of the cables you were supplied? When operated, do the levers on the calipers pull all the way down to their stop, can you do this manually?
