Can anyone tell me how to dismantle a Jetta 2012 driver's mirror? Cranking it out will still not clear the view of the car's side.

can you push the glass gently on the outer right hand side area of the glass ?? This may push the glass back into place , as may have simply popped out of place. Sometimes there are 4 locating ball joints and they can pop out. Sometimes its one big ball joint and it can also be popped out .

I checked this after reading other suggestions but centering with the cotrol and then moving further by hand does not make a permanent adjustment because running the motor again just reverts it to the original range (which is useless).

    But thanks anyway Niall.

Unfortunately as someone else described, the passenger mirror is perfect. I didn't have any problem with an older ('51 reg) Passat but this Jetta has not been nor is it exactly the apple of my eye because of a multitude of gearchange problems. I have another 18 months to go before I can consider dumping it.

I'll try your suggestion in the morning. Thanks Niall.

Tried the suggestion that a.m. but it's a nogo.
I'm gonna dig into a few dealers' sites and see if any of them have any bright ideas

I just bought my Jetta in Feb 2016 (New facelift model) in Singpaore. Which is RHD similar to UK.

I have a problem with my Driver Door Wing Mirror (RHD) (right mirror). It is extended to the maximum and yet I still see the car body and door handle, cannot see other outer lane.

VW Singapore called and told me that they have consulted their expert on this matter.
This problem wing mirror is the "Correct" part for all new Jetta manufacturing from June 2015 onwards. (they change to this new part)
So all the new Jetta will have this same problem.

Asked if UK (also RHD) is also using this part, they don't know.

    Part Number:
5C8857508J (Replacement from Jun 2015 onwards) Cannot find this part from the ETKA.cc
