Sharan 2.8 VR6 aut. , 1999, OBD??

Hi all

i just got my "new" Sharan 2.8 VR6 aut. from 1999, BUT i like to run som dianostics tests on the car to se if there is any "red" lights in the system

BUT is it a OBD1 or OBDII , and what protocol dods it use.... i know the connection is under the ashtray in front of the Gearstick.

my OBD device is : OBDPRO (USB) from scantool

im using : Scantool xl pro and OBDAutoDoctor

none of them can connect to my car , both says try to turn engine on , but it is on

IMO generic are NWAF on vag cars.

but is the connection OBD1 or OBD2 and what protocol dods it use.

Its EOBD which is near as dammit to OBD2!
