Hi. I have a problem with my 1993 Audi. When it's cold and when driving around town, when I take my foot off the throttle car is still going for about 3 seconds, but on motorway everything is fine. I checked for leaks around inlet manifold and vacuum system seems to be in order too. I just have no idea what it can be. Maybe someone can help me with that? Thanks in advance.

HI, could be a sticky throttle cable, might pay to squirt some WD 40 (other makes are available) around the throttle body etc.

Thanks, will check. Another problem I forgot to mention was at some point when engine is cold rpm will jump between 1100rpm and 1200 rpm and then stop.

Well, could be. Car was just sitting for about 1.5 years without driving. So will definitely try reseting ECU! Thanks for this mate. I was about to order new idle vale, as I though that could be faulty... but will try this first, before spending money...

EDIT: Can't find ECU/Ignition fuse, so don't hae anything to 'pull out'

The ECU fuses are the big ones, I believe labelled 'moteur' just disconnecting the battery achieves the same thing.

I managed to reset ECU (removed negative pole for 20min) and it seems to be more 'sattled down'. RPM still jumps when changing gears, but considerably less. So I bought new idle valve, as mine has done loads, hope that will sort it out.

New idle valve didn't work, did check throttle position; fixed that, didn't work either. Will try to reset ECU and Throttle will see whether that works.
