Just had a most pleasant drive home today after getting my Golf remapped by CC tuning in Burton upon Trent. Chris (the owner) was superb from start to finish. Saw cars on his facebook that he had tuned and also spoke at length with Chris and decided to take the plunge. The price £250 (should of been £299) . The drive home FANTASTIC.....power from low down all the way to the last but one digits on the speedo. More mods to come soon, and yes i will be taking it back to CC tuning.
2009 Golf Gt TDI 140 CR. GREY.....upgrades and mods on the way :-) Re-mapped,
Tweaks through VCDS:- MPH showing in large digital reading,Front DRL's disappear when indicators on,Chirp confirmation on Arm/Disarm of Alarm,Rain Sensor Closing all windows

Apparently it wouldnt run up on the rollers.......before or after. I watched this and it was apparent the car held back. Not sure why, but all i know is he had to take he ECU out of the car to remap it. BUT that aside drove another 85 miles this morning and loving the extra power, smooth delivery with great torque, and still hit 59mpg!!!! Looking forward to taking it up to the lake district at the weekend fully loaded with family!!

Just had a look at the CC Tuning website.

First thing that put me off is that Volkswagen is spelt incorrectly.

Secondly, the FAQ section is very generic, and doesn't really offer any scientific information as to where performance improvement figures come from and what testing has been done etc etc. How did they decide how much bhp and torque is OK with a standard clutch? Who decided how much extra power a turbo will cope with? For my car, I could go from 105bhp to 150bhp with a CC Tuning remap....where's the evidence to say this engine can cope with 150bhp?

To simply say a remap won't have any longterm effect on the life of an engine is misleading - it inevitably will reduce longevity of an engine, and increase wear on certain ancillary components.

Also, to say that a main dealer couldn't detect a remap is untrue...surely, all a dealer has to do is plug in to the diagnostics port and see that the car isn't running standard software?!

I'm not against people remapping cars, but I think tuning companies should quantify their performance gains by providing scientific evidence and longterm test results, rather than wooly unsubstantiated figures. Maybe, if this data was provided, I'd take remappers seriously.

Ok, just happened to be on the phone to my new insurers & asked the question. They said that general rule of thumb would be an increase of about 20% of however much is left on the policy. So if I have a renewal of £100 and at the very start I declare the remap, my annual policy would be £120. If I was 6 months into the policy when I declared it, the extra cost would be 20% of £50 instead.

That's with Chris Knott insurance anyway (site sponsor), others may be higher possibly.

Just to note it has been a while since we had the text written on the site however we give full comprehensive information when booking and carrying out the work.

We also carry out extensive testing on the rolling road and the figures quoted on the website are estimates as the results can vary for each car. But I understand a remap is not for everyone.

Well you pay your money you take your choice. I dont drive like a boy racer everywhere, i just wanted a better delivery of power for overtaking. This has been delivered thanks to CC Tuning. Makes my car way more driveable and fun.
Have a look at his facebook site. The cars he has had speak for themselves. Also would he not have bad feedback from disgruntled owners.......I think he would. So you pays your money you take your choice!!
Im very happy with the money i spent :-)
