My car is a 2005 55 plate 80k on clock... I am getting theses erratic idle revs on start up... I am suspecting my throttle valve body maybe issue... below is VCDS log...

I've cleared this fault and it has not come back yet.... I have no other faults codes occurring ...

I have checked measuring block 18 on [01] Engine module in VCDS... again reactions seem correct on throttle...

When I was googling around for my issue I found this thread Link:- Audi A6 3.0 tdi hunting revs I have also posted here as well Link:- C6 A6 Lemans 3.0tdi fault.

So another is having issue like mine but no one yet advise on fix... my first year with car been turbulent I really thought I was picking up a cracking car... now spent £4k on it in first year... and this issue makes me feel

Maybe if I go get that remap I've been thinking about this will happen Link:- Dyno Tuning Disasters Compilation! 30 Horrific Dyno fails explosions and accidents - YouTube
    Then I can move on...

Thanks in advance for any insight...... from anyone.... I need forum support

So tomorrow the inspection of the internal workings of the throttle body... before I go and order another one and plough another £200 -£300 into my zesty A6...

For I shall try my best to beat the Ingolstadt gremlins out of my A6!

Good luck Gup, I hope you can get some suggestions before paying out, and that it's a quick, easy fix.

I think from seeing this at a few places on web it is very likely that internal working may have gone iffy... so best to check before order...

Did find these great images which have sort of fuelled this... Original post Link:- A6 2.7 TDI skrtiaca klapka? Audi Klub

Sorry to hear about yours problem with car, mate !
I suggest give it one more chance - repair this one and if it's going to be expensive one, sell it straight away.Good thing about Audi is - they hold price very well,
so yours still can fetch 7-8K and this is budget good enough to get an other decent car.
P.S. Defo don't go videolink route!

Just to be pedantic - your car is made in Neckarsulm, not Ingolstadt

    Good luck!

This was today when car was nice and warm... the very minute movement of needle is not the issue... I regard that as normal...

When it does issue eg like in video first post you can hear the engine variation in revs as needle on counter dips and rises... it is hard to describe it is like a miss fire... am I getting fuelling problem? nothing in VCDS suggests that...

I done full service@home with all genuine parts (oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, pollen filter) with in 3 months of owning, then with in 6 months I had the chain rattle fix done which mean again oil, oil filter, coolant...

Now just checked past VCDS logs...

    Voltage: 0.000 V

    Readiness: 0 0 0 0 0

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now on closer look of freeze frame the fault occur at 756rpm, speed was 10.1km/h... so fault was not logged on idle...

    In most recent log...

    Voltage: 0.000 V

    Readiness: 0 0 0 0 0

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So freeze frame data say at 1134rpm, speed was 40.3km/h... so fault was not logged on idle...

Now I'm assuming occurrence of this fault happened a frequency of 1... as only thing log say is "1 Fault Found" which would suggest the one fault is "P1545 - 002 - Malfunction - Intermittent" so if frequency higher eg constant no comms with throttle would it log multiple "1 Fault Found" logs

Maybe before removing throttle and checking internal workings just unplug elec.connection see what faults VCDS logs?

Maybe my issue is something else... Link:- Question 3.0 TDI Rough Idle

As c7trp has a 58 plate and going by his avatar a 8K A4 it's is the newer 3.0 TDi engine codes

Why does issue not exist after a quick punch of accelerator? surely if throttle have worn cog teeth it would persist

Why ever did I not get a sensible family estate

I am really out of ideas ... I've taken car for two spirited "Sports mode" run's hoping a Italian tune up will help... but still doing it...

Went for a 10 mile run in "Sports mode" first local road then some dual carriage way then local roads... did scan at home and no faults in VCDS... car never went into limp mode or any engine management lights...

With engine cover off all things did what they should ie both swirl motor flaps cycled AOK, I saw VNT and EGR actuators do their thing... none pulse or show any abnormal signs...@switch it off whilst doing the rocking/idle revs dip/rise... I saw EGR do its cycle again...

It is so depressing I have spent so much on this car

Gup - so sorry youre having so much trouble. I understand how frustrating they can be, especially when you feel all you do is plough massive cash into them!

    Hope you get it sorted.

    All the best
