Well guys and girls i believe the dreaded fuel pump failure has occured.

Missus was driving home from work went to pull out on a roundabiut and she said it lacked power, she thought she was in a to high gear. Anyways got home then had to pop out felt ok but was in traffic pulled up behind a bus and then nothing, car died and hasnt started since, turns over well but does not fire up. No coil light on dash etc.

So done some digging and found i have fuel returning through the filter

So webt back to check the intank pump and found that was full of fuel but still nothing pumping through

Then i decided to crack one injector feed from the back of the pump turned it over and fuel was spurting out.

    Im really cunfused atm

Any help would be greatly appriciated before i rip the front off to remove the pump

    Thanks
    Rob

Do you have VCDS ? If you do look for 00550 code in the engine controller. That would tell the ECU cannot see the pump, however it would put the coil light on ! Are you sure missus did not fueled with petrol ? It will do exactly that- run for a while then be a biatch to start !

Also take the right hand side cambelt cover off and see if the pump belt is not slack or broken, tensioners are known to snap and cause the pump timing to jump hence no start...
