    Hi,

I have a 2010 CC 140bhp. I have enjoyed the car, but these annoying seatbelt chimes stated at random this June/July in the hot Texas summer. After multiple visits to the dealer, (who could find no warning codes showing) and browsing this forum, I traced the seat belt sensor wires to a handy little flap cover by carpet at front left under the driver seat. A handy connector is there which was simple to disconnect (push the small plastic catch away from the connector and pull gently). This solved the problem - no more random dings and no waning lights showing from other systems! Peace and quiet.

I always wear a seat belt and although this solution may seem drastic, it looked like a practical solution to me as the dealer said it would be ~ $370 to pull out the seat and fit a new seat belt buckle assembly, which he was not even sure at the time would solve the problem.

Happy driving and hope this helps anyone with the same issue.Seat Buckle Sensor.jpg

ps the wires on the CC are yellow and blue for the seat belt buckle and the connector black - the pic is a little out of focus.

    Hi Ian,

I found on my Golf that there was a 2pin Plug (thats the one) and a 3pin plug (yellow not the one). If you unplug the 2 pin plug there will be no problem. If you unplug the 3 pin plug, then the air bag light will come on and there is no way of turning it off. I had to go to a garage and get it turned off by computer.

With the 2 pin plug disconnected the seat will come out and then the unit can be exchanged. I however have left mine disconnected. Not that i am advocating not wearing a seat belt of course - its a force of habit for me to put mine on when i get in the car. Hope this helps

    Hi ian

gave you a bit of a bum steer. You can't take the seat out without removing the airbag plug. When I did this I got the airbag warning. Suggest disconnecting the 2pin plug only and leaving it at that. Sorry for any confusion caused.

You can also use VCDS to code out the seatbelt warnings.

should not get air bag warning when disconnecting if you leave the keys out of the ignition and replace plug before turning ignition on
