Its time to take my A6 in for a full service, Audi are quoting £603 but will match anyone else in the area (Guildford) up to 20 miles away if I can produce a written quotation and they use approved Audi parts.

So Vas Motion are quoting £373 quite a difference....

Has anyone gone to Audi with a much more competative quote and got them to match it?

Any down side to this?....not sure the Indie would be too happy going to the trouble of writting it all down knowing they may not get the job...may have to buy them a pint?

Hi AS400 (or should I say Hello World!)

    My experience has been this
ring up said dealer and say "insert name" independent can do the same service for £blah, can you match that?

If not I walk from the dealer and go to the independent. Remember the independent is usually 50% cheaper with labour costs than a dealer.

If you want peace of mind go with the dealer. Maybe you can ask the indy to provide receipts for the items used in your service in case you need it for future warranty squabbles.

I find Indy's far more accommodating to customer requests than the *******. The indy wants your business (long term) whereas the ******* cannot give a cahoot once the car has left the forecourt.

    HTH! Red!

What age is your car? My car will definitely be going to my independent.

If out of warranty then I'd be saving the £230 and put it towards next years service.

My independent also lets me supply my own oil - this can mean quite a saving.

Personally I'd just be completely cheeky about it & ask them to email you the quote, no explanation. If they press you on it, tell them your employer pays for maintenance on your car & requires 3 quotes before signing off on your expenses. What's the worst that can happen - they say no.

Yes I will get a quote and present Audi with it and see if they back track.....if Audi really will match an indie who uses Audi parts why go to an indie?...I'll take the courtesy new Audi biscuits and tea thanks.

If its over three years old why not use Audi's fixed servicing? Had my major service done for £299.....bargain I reckon!

I thought that only covered up to 2.0 litre engines?

I don't think it covers 2.7 or 3.0, I'd be interested if it does!

Fixed servicing applies up to 2.0 engines only but goodwill and loyalty (and patience!) allows my A6 to be included even though it's 3.0

I have used these guys Car Servicing, MOT, in Byfleet, Weybridge, Surrey, Accessories | WVC Service Centre in the past to service my previous Audi. They are located very close to Tesco/M&S at Brooklands and also operate a secondhand Audi operation in Chertsey. Worth giving them a call to get a comparable price for the service. In my experience they are every bit as good as an Audi dealership.
