turbo and dump valve ......

Hey ppl so im cruising down the motorway tonight at 110 mph... Suddenly my audi a4 1.8 turbo started making a weird noise so i pulled off and everytime i start drivng in each gear a noise like a cat is whineing kicks in then i noticed theres a bad power loss ..feels like im

driving a old feista 1.2 ... Also my dump valve has stopped working at same time ..any ideas whats wrong ?

Sorry mate that's not really helpful. Quick test, hold the rubber hose coming from the turbo and get someone to blip the throttle, if the pipe doesn't firm up you need to plug her into vcds, no boost no dump valve could be turbo, could be wanes, could be N75, could be a pipe loose.

Can you do a scan on it? Hopefully it's going to be a cheap fix garage and turbo change can hurt. good luck mate

Why would a local garage rip you off?

I'm not suggesting they'd rip you off, a new turbo supply and fit costs a good few quid. Some independents don't have the ability to scan a car they just start replacing parts. An small garage owner told me how he put out the abs light in a Touareg, by removing the dash clocks getting the cover off and covering the offending light with black duct tape.

Maybe they saw him driving at 110mph and thought, "Swoooon, there's a chap who doesn't care about penalty points, fines and not having a driving license - I bet he's got loads of money"
