Thanks for the reply. I'd already seen that post, but my engine is different to the one illustrated.

I've looked all around the air filter box but cant't see anything that resembles the MAF. ????

althought the engine will be slightly different, the MAF is stil in the same place. take a look at your airbox, there will be 2 pipes, one going in, one coming out, the one coming out will have the small sensor attached to it, thats the MAF....

p.s. i just replaced my 115 gttdi's bosch with a pierburg, i've not been happy since i got it and whilst there weren't any vast power losses, i was noticing a struggle to get towards 80/90... fitted the pierburg and there are no issues whatsoever now MPG has gone up too, always a bonus

I currently have no issues with my car, but would the same still apply to my mk5 if i put a pierburg on in place of the bosch. Where would i stand with the warranty?

i've not been happy with it from day one, the recon turbo managed to 'mask' the fault though, being new to TDI's i never thought anything of it, but having sat in my brothers toledo (110 VE) i realised there was something defintley amiss, a quick datalog showed some significant differences between requested and measured air flows. i fitted the pierburg and whilst its not a massive improvement as such, there is definitley more takeup and a quick stretch on the m.way showed no issue whatsoever in reaching 80.

if it were me, if it aint broke, dont fix it would apply.... if you've got a warranty i wouldnt worry, i defintley wouldnt go fitting a pierburg, as they're designed for Mercedes and BMW, something VW probably wouldnt want you to do....

I'm a believer of if it aint broke don't fix it, so i'll not be doing anything. I was just wondering about the differencies. I'll be getting as much out of the warranty as i can.

    hi carl

you say about struggling to get to 80/90 before replacing air mass meter, did it just take a while on the uptake or did you power drop off.
At present getting past 80 and my power just seems to go, I know alot of people have said same thing about turning ignition of and the powers back, just wondered on your diagnosis.
If changing the MAF will fix it then i'll be right on it. Having just had the coolant problem fixed (head gasket £600!!), I don't want to go all round the houses again to try and solve this one.
