Does anyone know is you can get just parts for brake conversion kits? Looking for a brake caliper only for a VW beetle drum to disc brake conversion kit but can't find a supplier. Whole new kit no problem, but not just a replacement brake caliper. Any help here appreciated.

Sorry, didn't give enough info. Rear brake caliper required. It has been fitted to a VW beetle framed trike and has an e-brake on it

Aah right, I'm guessing here, but the calipers may be robbed from the VAG parts bin, are they Girling with 38 stamped on them? 38mm would be the piston diameter. What diameter and thickness is the disc?
Golfs, passats, jettas, Audi 80, 100 etc all used the type of caliper you describe. Is the caliper you have faulty? maybe this link will be of some use?:http://www.20v.org/brakere.htm
Usual problems are, handbrake mechanism seizes up, or sliding pins seize or dust boot becomes holed, and bore starts to rust.

Thanks for that. Local motor factor could not match but thought they were Varga calipers. The disc diametre is 280 ml. Problem is that cowboys who fitted conversion to the trike have different calipers on each side, so it pulls to one side. Thats why we need to try to find the same caliper for the other side. Hitting a brick wall with getting just a caliper as it was a conversion kit. Everyone says we need to buy the complete kit again. (Complete it at over £400 by the way!)
