After fitting the RS6 rear ARB and sorting a leaking water pump I have been enjoying driving my allroad again. Driving to work this morning and i started crunching 5th after changing up from 4th. At first i thought i was changing gear to fast. Chris has always told me to take it easy. Dropped down to 4th and repeatedly crunched it in to 5th along the A316.

Ringing around it looks like a reconditioned box is going to cost around £850-900. Might be a good time to fit a longer 6th for economy. Any of you guys/girls suffered the same problem and how did you fix it? Chris suggested i drain off a bit of fluid to check for metal fragments held in suspension. Since I'm under the car, maybe I should drain the fluid and replace with the Audi spec fluid? Any tips for doing this?

The gearbox mounts were changed a few months ago and the right handside engine mount is leaking red gunk. I would like a pair of Stern Motormounts and an uprated snub mount to tighten everything up soon.

    Thanks in-advance.

PS: During the monsoons the plenum chamber filled with water, I suffered the solid brake pedal in the morning. Do you think it's related?

Hi sorry not trying to hijack this post but can't figure out how to start a trend.
I have a 2004 A6 allroad 2.5tdi auto with 99000 on the clock. It has just started playing up when I take off sometime it sticks in first gear but when I switch it on and off then it fine. Is there any common fault or a fix for tjis I've changed the hear oil and filter but still the same. Not the best if you are pulling out on to a busy road when it happened. Any help mush appreciated

It should be a ZF manufactured box fitted to it.

Does it (when you get the fault) allow you to change manually by moving the gearlever to the right and change up that way? This is before you switch it off then on again for a reset.
