Just bought a b7 estate with electric folding mirrors but the nearside mirror doesn't dip (swivel downwards) when reverse is selected. On a previous Golf with similar mirrors the nearside mirror did dip when reversing. I'm told by the dealer that, for some obscure reason, Passat mirrors can't be made to dip. I've always found this dipping facility very useful when reversing towards a kerb. I'd be grateful for any comments.

Does the mirror selector have to be on the nearside mirror for this to work?
I think it does with Audi's

Just found the answer on the VW site. Passats are not fitted with dipping door mirrors unless electric memory seats are specified! What sort of sense does that make?

People have found the same on Audi's, and others have got it to work with coding changes.

Thanks, very interesting; I'm not into coding but I'd be very grateful if you could suggest a specialist near me (Merseyside) that could do this. The VW dealer is, of course, adamant that it can't be done.

    Sorry, can't recommend anyone.
You could try a search on here to see if anyone has managed it.
