    Well,

Came out and had a look through the hidden menu today so I could set the import of cd's direct to the harddisk. Interestingly, there is only 1 thing to set now.

    On my 2013 S4

Hidden Menu (Hold menu and car for a few seconds) and Green Menu appears
    Diagnose
    Settings
    import_multimedia
Ripping (toggle to green filled box)
Copying ( this shouild already be a green filled box )
... to go back a level (not sure you need to do this, but incase this is editing a file, I would to be safe)
    Reset MMI

Now you can copy disks.. Splendid :-)

Thanks everyone who helped with this, especially George for the VCDS enablement.. I am one happy chappy

    Tim
