Tom, as far as I can remember the pb motor was replaced. You don't say what your problem is but I have had issues with the epb since when I get a fault light come on. It usually resets itself when I next use the car. But experience has shown me that if you are getting the mil coming on frequently then park the car without engaging the epb and you will then hear the motors recalibrating themselves like snapdragon says earlier in this thread. Since doing this I haven't had a problem.

It gets us all in the end.
Eurocarparts is pretty much cheapest at ~£180 with core refund on old part and they are brand new (not reconditioned).

I have had a similar issue and fixed it. Turns out the motor was fine but the shaft encoder (the drum that turns that has the 6 pointed spline that goes into the back of the caliper) was dirty.

I fixed this by running the motor off the car (apply 12v, either polarity to the outer two big pins - the 1st and 4th pins - in the connector). Naturally you'll have already taken the motor off the caliper first. Fortunately that doesn't require removing the caliper.

With the motor turning, use the end of a contact cleaning strip or similarly rough rag between the now rotating drum and the casing. Let the motor turn for about 10 revolutions to make sure the drum is now clean.

Stick it back on the car and do the procedure as if you'd replaced the pads (open, close, set pad thickness etc.) and test.

For me, this fixed the fault and the error codes would then clear.

    Andy
