    Hi All,

The mrs' Polo 1.2 9n3 2006 has just failed on a split front flexi downpipe and rear box will need replaced in the near future (according to the garage). They have quoted an aftermarket flexi downpipe and back box coming in at £320!!!

Surely this is a bit steep for said parts. Don't even think they have quoted labour in that. I got a flex downpipe for my 1.8 1996 A4 for £40 last month.

Second opinion time or is this the going rate for this model?

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Front pipe without cat from GSF is about £65, can’t find a price on a rear box at the moment but a genuine VAG economy back box is £90. Say £50 labour, £210 ish job done.

I put a full exhaust on a 1.2 Ibiza recently, cost £120 odd for the whole thing, front pipe and flexi, centre box, back box, and all clamps/gaskets. Front pipe was £35 plus vat, have the invoice here on my desk.

Thanks again for the info Crasher, a pricey repair job indeed then. I'm surprised at the lack of suppliers for the flexipipe.

The trouble is there are so many variations these days, long gone are the days when two front pipes dealt with all Polos 74 to 87.
