    I have Audi A4 2.0 Petrol.

Two weeks ago the ECU was reconditioned because I had the common problem of the gear numbers flashing on the dash and sometimes it wouldn't find reverse gear. This cost me £900 and any fault with the ECU is under warranty for a year.

On 2 occasions since this fix I have encountered a problem where the yellow hazard warning light has come on and remained on. I have also experienced that the revs have sometimes hit 4000rpm whilst driving at normally at 50mph which suggests it is struggling to move up a gear automatically. This did happen one time before I had the ECU reconditioned.

On 1 occasion whilst going at a gradual hill climb i did not get any feedback from the accelerator and the car came to a halt. Putting it in Park and back to drive and it was ok again. This suggests to me it may have been stuck in a high gear.

I am going to take it back to the garage this week. Is this covered under the ECU warranty and anybody know what the problem could be?

UPDATE: The diagnostic test showed the fault was a faulty brake sensor. Replacing it solved the problem. Cost me £25. So I am a happy bunny.

Was this for the complete job including labour and fluid?

Yes it was and that includes VAT. It was a local transmission specialist place in North Kent that I used. They sent off the ECU to be reconditioned so I was without the car for a few days. I could have paid another £300 for a new ECU but I went for the cheaper option.

Yes a new ECU is just under £900, to be honest I push all my customers to go that way as it has a two year dealer backed warranty and labour/fluids inclusive warranty plus they give you a loan car, the dealer warranty on some items is worth the price premium.
