Fitted these to my A3 with no errors so bought another pair to 'try' in the A6 - not sure if they would work or not, but finally got round to fitting them today after days and days of rain

Fitted in a MY2008 car without DIS error so I assume they will fit up to MY2008 (they fit upto MY2009 on A3)

Screws were tight little buggers to get back in - still not in fully but are secured.

They do look good at night on the A3 - the old halogen seems brighter in daylight but the LED is definitely brighter (but not too bright) at night and provides a nice warm glow to the rear.

A3 thread with night pics - Audi OEM Led Number Plate Light fitted .. Success!

    Fitting:

There are guides when fitting these - on the LHS light put the RHS of the unit in first and the opposite for the RHS unit then press the light up to the screw hole.

    Part numbers

    LHS - 4H0 943 021 £9.58
    RHS - 4H0 943 022 £9.58

Still light out, but once it dims down I'll get a dark shot

They look much better IMO Chris, unfortunately for me having two MY11 VAG cars meant I had little choice but to do it the harder way:

    2x W5W (501) bulb holders:

They were soldered to the number plate lights:

Then cable tied to the light (so they do not rattle):

    Fitted to the car:

Comparison with the OE festoon bulb:

If I had to do that, I wouldn't of bothered!

Although as you say, they look far better against the halogen originals.

    £20 well spent!

Not sure if you know this or not, but you can turn the cold diagnosis off for the number plate lights in VCDS

Roll on the dark, that's when you'll see the big difference & I'm already planning how to sell the idea to the missus that it'll be £20 well spent . So simple & yet so effective, job well done Chris, you must be well chuffed with the outcome.

Getting dark now, although it will be another hour/90 mins before dark-ish to see the light.

Just tell her it will save on speeding tickets as the police will be able to see your plate more clearer at night especially in winter

Yep, the littlest of things can make the most difference and the units are certainly one of those things - stupid rain kept delaying things though!

    Well Brycie how about this...

Brycie @ Mrs B " Well if I install these new LED number plate modules think about it dear they don't fuse like the festoon ones, all the money we save can go towards...."

    Next one

Brycie @ Mrs B "You remember last time we had MOT done that tester picked up on the number plate bulb and I had to waste all that time and fuel going to get a bulb and going back for retest instead we could have been shopping together"

True, these won't burn out like the bulb type - although I did have to clean the contacts with wd40 before installing these as they were a little rusty

Apologies but no night time pics tonight

Need to move my number plate holder up a bit as the light is missing it completely and just illuminating the paint

Will adjust tomorrow and update tomorrow evening
