Check engine light on 2007 3.0 tdi tip

Got a check engine light coming on, my independent Audi garage has had it on two rigs to check the code and reset it. On both occasions the code came up something like "Unknown dealer", the car drives perfectly fine otherwise and there seem to be no other problems. I think I am resigned to having to be raped at an Audi dealer to have this looked at. Are there any other options?

Star performance kirkcaldy are excellent with audis. Got an excellent reputation. I use them and people from.all over scotland use them too. They should be able to help. Got a website just Google it.
