    Hi All

Can anyone recommend an independent VAG specialist, of good repute, in the Falmouth/Truro area? Work needed on a Passatt in first instance followed by an A4. It can be tricky finding a good mechanic so if anyone has some contact details to post or PM that would be a real help.

    Many thanks

Have you tried vw village at the top of Chacewater, or i believe there is a vw specilist in Rosedene Ind Est opposite Brittania Lanes removal.

Luke & Chris thanks both for the help. I'll PM Phil, he's provided me sound advice previously regarding an engine flush query.

Luke - I note you're Cornwall based. The two garages you refer to are they both you're regular garage or do you tend to use one more than the other depending on the job? PM me an answer if you'd rather not post a public reply.

    Thanks again

I don't actually use either as i'm a mechanic myself and do all my own work. I have had help from a guy called Steve at VW connections in VW village with VAGcom though, as for the other place I don't know what there like as I've not heard anything about them just know they are there. There is another indy VAG specilist out St Agnes way that I've heard of aswell.

What is it you're after if you don't mind me asking?

    Hi Luke

I don't mind you asking! I was just curious to know in what capacity you were providing the recommendation. Thank you for the extra detail. In previous requests for recommendations (not on this forum) people have suggested places to go. Only for me to later find out their advice was based on work done on their nan's car in 1964! I guess I should have asked. Also, I wasn't sure what the forum rules were on advertising & whether suggesting one garage over the other was bad form; hence my suggestion for a PM. Apologies if my posting suggested something dubious, I just needed to know a bit more.

    Thanks again

No your posts didn't suggest anything dubious, I was just wondering if I could give any advise.

Ah I see! Misinterpreted your query. The problem was a flat battery which required car to be jump started. The engine turned over and started. But the engine management light came on and electronic parking brake wouldn't release. Aa were called out and the mechanic couldn't fix the problem so instead physically disconnected the parking brake so car could be driven back from Heathrow to Falmouth. Any thoughts?

Did he put a code reader on? If so did it come up wiith any codes. The only experience I've had with electronic parking brakes sticking on was on a Renault and that had to have a new motor.
