Hi guys, this is the only place i could see to post this thread, I just bought a 2002 A6 1.9tdi sport ( mrs wrote off my passat )

Firstly i have changed my thermostat as coolant and oil temp was not reaching optimum temperature. that is now fine.

My speedo is reading 15-20 mph more than what i am traveling at ( confirmed with sat nav ) where is the speed sensor on this model ?
i susspect its driverside wheel arch but could be wrong !! could it be the gusge or the sensor ?

Also my fuel gauge reached 1/2 and light came on so i topped it up ( £83 later ) realised i had a problem, the gauge now reads off the scale, I have found the sensor in the boot ( not under the back seat as other threads suggest ) i was just wondering if its just a case of changing the sensor or the whole unit ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers Steve

    Hi Steve

The sensor could be located in 2 places as there were two versions around that time. Either G22 sensor in the left hand side close to the output shaft on the gearbox (you should be able to access it from the engine bay. It sits on top of the driveshaft collar) or no sensor and it used the front left abs sensor in the bearing hub.
Hope that helps with the speedo
