Is the facelift 09/10 3:0tdi engine just a remapped engine of the pre facelift?

The facelift has better fuel economy. Less emmisions and so on and i was woundering if remapping my 2008 could improve fuel economy and emmisionz without losing performance?

Ive been tempted.to remap for performance but obviousley economy has a direct relationship withe ones right foot.

ASFAIK know mate only difference between (apart from cosmetic/mmi) two would be superseded parts/newer software in modules...

Mine has no DPF, this was a) confirmed by dealer b) popping PR codes from data into this handy tool http://prsearch.planetvag.com/

PR Code: 7GN = Emission standard EU4 DPF preparation

I've seen Audi have a retro-fit kit of DPF so I am assuming what above mean is that is ECU and car is prepped to have, but does not have it, I could be wrong... did not investigate much as I wouldn't want a DPF (clogging, etc)

Do not know when DPF on 3.0 come in/have either...

Your engine code maybe ??? mine BMK...

    225PS (165 kW; 222 hp) > 233PS (171 kW; 230 hp) > PS240 (177 kW; 237 hp)

    My engine is a 233bhp.
I would prefer not to have a dpf to for the same reason, although my maye has one on his saab93 which hasnt given him any real issues

why would you have a DPF if your not required to have one? it will make mpg worse!

an engine remap will return better fuel economy when driven gently, the increased torque allows you drive in a higher gear hence the saving.

x2 - I'm having my fair share of clogginess with the a3 and if it wasn't for warranty it would be ripped out and a remap applied.
