    Hi Everyone,
The plastic cog(s) have failed on my currently installed EGR Valve, so it is stuck in the closed position, which is better than being stuck in the open position. The MIL (engine management Light) is on.
I have purchased a new EGR Valve and note it mentions the new EGR Valve needs to be adapted or learned by the cars ECU before it wil work correctly once fitted.

I have searched without success for how to do this on a Diesel ECU using VCDS or do I need to take in to Audi?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

I think I'd be inclined to fit it and see what happens. I bought vagcom (the full one) because I was informed I'd need to code my new throttle body after fitting, which I did a few weeks ago.
Turns out I didn't have to do anything. Either it didn't need coding or it 'self coded'.

    Hi Deaks,
That is great news, because I am in the same situation as you were. I think it may work ok if I just clear the codes and fit it. Just do not want to damage the new piece of kit.
    cheers

    Hi,
it is probably too late for you but here is the official procedure
After replacing, adapt new part as follows:
Switch ignition on and off and wait 1 minute for the afterrun of the control units.
Start engine and run in idle for at least 1 minute.
Interrogate the fault memory → I use Autel VAG505
No fault must be stored in the fault memory
If a fault occurs, erase the fault memory and repeat above procedure.

    I hope this helps,
    Vincent
