    Hi looking for some help
The last few weeks I have had an intermittent amber bulb warning light on the dashboard
The bulb symbol comes on for no reason, I have checked all the lights, indicators, interior lights everything is working.
Car is going back to the dealers to have new window guide rubbers fitted Friday so wil mention it then just looking for any information in case they fob me off ( new ac compressor fitted last week !)
    Any ideas ?

Sometimes this can be telling you a certain bulb is about to blow soon

There are a few amber warning lights in the clocks and each one has a different symbol you need to remember the symbol. The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is amber with an engine symbol with a flash of lightening in it.

I don't think the bulb warning tells you when its about to blow only when it has blown or circuit failure Chris.

I've Googled for this Chris but nothing talks about a bulb is about to fail.

The bulb out warning in Audi's is vary sensitive, so it can sometimes give warning before the bulb blows.

Check the rear number plate bulbs, one of mine is intermittent (never out when it goes to dealer), often these are overlooked when checking which one has failed.

My Golf was displaying similar warning with no bulbs having failed. Took it into VW (for new A/C compressor coincidentally), they changed and charged me for 2 bulbs and told me that the system checks for resistance. As these bulbs were apparently about to blow, they triggered the warning. Not sure I entirely believed them, but the warning light hasn't reappeared.
