    Hi Folks,

Sorry to do the classic first post is a problem, but well, I have a problem!

I purchased an A6 SE (56 plate) last week from a private buyer and have had Audio issues that I didn't notice on a test drive (volume down low). Initially I read up on possible problems and thought it was linked to a faulty bluetooth module similar to https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...sues-connected and so contacted my local Audi specialist (Bavarian Auto Werks in Aberdeen) to run a diagnostics on the car. They did so and stated my car didn't have the bluetooth module (despite being sold to me as having it), so now i'm completely stuck. The way my Audi garage explained my MMI system was that it was 'simply' two parts and each cost between £600-£700 to replace (screen and Control box basically).

I have the colour Screen MMI system, 6 disk changer and sat nav. Sat Nav works perfectly but the audio cut out occurs every 5/6 minutes for a few seconds on CD AND radio. The actual display on the dash refreshes, i.e. the station name disappears then re-appears when the sound comes back.

I have taken a video of the noise (or lack of it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGXU7hQ7ZYc

The MMI screen never cuts out or does anything unusual.

Also, as I have all the buttons for 'phone' 'phonebook' etc, I presume I can add a bluetooth module simply enough? However I won't be doing anything until I rectify this fault!

    Hi,

Only ideas/thoughts... did they run scan on MOST loop / fibre optic cabling check this thread http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/audi-...w-seconds.html maybe some info on VWAF try search box top right...

I've read posts of if CD Changer been swapped out and component protection not removed audio cut out every so often... maybe someone or search on web will reveal what happen if tuner is swapped and gone into CP...

Bluetooth can be retro fit, you have several options depending on budget, but first would advise resolve current issue before going down that road...

Failing modules on MMI system can cause issues, not trying to alarm... did they give diags.log/data?? are you able to get from them?? and post info...

I'd start looking at other issues like coding, CP, etc before replacing modules...
Once whenever accepted incoming call no sound come through to me but other would hear me turned out when I press "nav" button screen show disc read error, clean dvd reinsert and factory fit bluetooth back online could be silly like lose aerial connection/failing aerial amp, etc this would also show on scan...

Thanks Gupsterg, I appreciate the prompt reply. I did ask for a printout of the Vag-com report but they didn't give me it. I'm going to take any responses to this thread to them and get everything checked/replaced that needs to be.

never had an Audi before last week, so this is my first experience of car and garage! The alternative is Specialist Cars who will charge a fortune just to look at it. I will try and get the output from the diagnostics log and post it here.

Just to add, they stated they ran a full diagnostics on the car and it showed no faults.

Also, I have a saloon and not an Avant, despite the problem seeming to be mainly on Avant models

    Hi,

No idea on why the sound cuts out but regarding bluetooth it maybe worth doing the following to double check for sure if it has some kind fitted:

Do a scan with a bluetooth phone to see if it finds anything

Go into CD, press the changer option and scan down beyond the first 6. I have a fiscon (probably spelt wrong) and that shows up at device 12 from memory.

    Worth a shot.

I'd also look for another garage or indi that has the VCDS and can do a scan for you.

I have 2005 A6, found I didn't have the traffic info coming up on the NAV screen (fixed with later map DVD) and other small issues that were mainly fixed with MMI update to 5570. Last issue with bluetooth was down to original installer not coding it in properly.

    Good luck.

    Andy

Thanks Andy, really appreciate that post. Will have a look for the Bluetooth on the CD option. There is no bluetooth symbol on screen as per instruction book, and definitely nothing coming up when scanning for devices from various phones. The seller is adamant that the car had bluetooth. When I go to the phone settings, it allows me to enter a 4 digit pin and see the bluetooth options, but no 'on' or 'scan' options.

Does anyone have the VAG-COM kit in Aberdeen I could use?

How do I check the version of my MMI?

When you go into the phone settings and it asks you to put in a pin, does it say BT Audio or something similar?
