I know this has been done to death but...

    http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...odule_Versions
    shows that: (mine)
    1K0-953-549-AH Type 2 SW 0070 Midline Yes
Supports - Cruise Control and Trip Computer
So does that mean i dont need the wire for the cruise control stalk?

You have no idea until you get in there, most don't need the wire, the occasional ones does. If you buy the genuine kit it is included.

Spoke to Huntington Audi as I bought the kit off them and he recons the sportbacks are prewired for it. Do you have to remove steering ecu to remove the stalks?

They should be able to tell if you need the wire from your VIN. But as A8 tech says in my thread - only the petrols need it

Cheers, i did read your thread... think i have commented on it also. Will let you know once i have broken my slip ring and stripped the nut on the steering wheel tomorrow!

Do you happen to know the torque required for the steering wheel bolt? I dont know if Haynes list it or not havent looked to be honest.

No idea on the torque needed - a8 said you can keep the ecu in place but it's easier to drop it for easy access

Just simply remove the lower cowling, pop the big connector of the steering cu & check the wire is there, thats almost guaranteed its wired through, some have had wire there but not all the way, so fit cruise, code & check signals in the MVB's with vcds.

Not sure Jon would state that tbh Chris, due to the fact the stalk plugs into the steering cu, so to change the stalk, you really do need to drop the cu down or could damage something, just make sure the 4-6 pin connector with wires in hidden above the steering cu is positioned pre refitting or could be an issue later.

Well I stand corrected, it is possible, but certainly not something I'd advise tbh, for the time it takes to remove the cu, I'd follow the correct method

I'll give it a bash :-). Do you have to enable it in the engine as well as the steering unit? I took a look at the coding on the engine ecu but didnt see anything mentioning cruise?
