    I hope some-one can help here ....

I have a '98 Octavia estate which has an intermittent fault with the locking when operated from the remote. The indicators flash to say it is locked but the car doesn't actually lock. By unlocking it from the remote (which causes the locks to "clunk") and trying again, it will work. I have to do this 3 or 4 times or just use the key!!

    Any ideas?

I have my suspicion that it's a programming fault but not sure!

    Thanks in anticipation, Keith

Keith, sorry I'm new but saw your post and recognised the fault.
My wifes Octavia; 51 1.9 has similar fault. I was told that it can be fixed by reprogrammimg but didn't get round to it when i drove the car. BUT beware of the other fault that can develope - locks the doors when you're in the car, or outside even with keys in ignition!. I saw a very sorry Audi TT driver locked in his car, but with keys in his jacket in boot. You cannot open the doors from the inside if the key has locked them. It is a fault that VW Skoda know about, and in my case started when the "lights on" buzzer stopped working - strange! Hope this helps.
