Need a reset for my airbag. GF has been driving car and moving drivers seat. 3rd time this has happened. Last time was a couple of years ago, I approached a techie at Audi in Reading and he happily did it for a £10. Would appreciate anybody who would kindly do a reset for me in South Manchester area or knows where I can have it done.

    Thanks

    Gareth

On this topic, is there a fix we can do to prevent this happening? It's happened 3 times for me already but fortunately I have an understanding vw garage!

I've heard you can just scotch lock the wires together and get rid of the connector altogether (battery disconnected of course)?

As far as VCDs help is concerned, I know a briskoda net forums member based just outside of Preston near m65. Is that too far for you?

I guess you don't really mean scotch lock. Never use these on important wiring. The best method is to cut out the connector and solder the wires together or use hotmelt crimp connectors. Not cheap DIY crimp connectors.

Yes, just didn't know the correct terminology!

It definitely is the job for an expert to do, but thought it could save some pain and money in the long run...

I had my Airbag light come on after my car was in and out of the garage a few times last year (when I had my heating issue) despite the garage damaging and having to replace (at their cost) the plastic ends on the seat runners due to them forcing the seat back, a day later my airbag light came on whilst going down the motorway - I then had to part with £200 for the pleasure of VW doing away with the connectors and hard wiring the two looms together instead, I wil try to dig out the invoice and let you know what parts they used.

Thank you for this, managed to get error cleared today. Tried back-door method at local VW without success, so found local German specialist and cleared for £20.
