Hi all. Please can some one help. My Passat, 2008 B6 has failed the MOT due to having no front side lights, the rears work fine but nothing from the front.... i am sure until recently that when the switch was on Auto the worked as front DRL only, but now neither of them work, is this a coding issue?

I am just about to go out and check the bulbs but seems strange both are not working.

ANy help really appreciated, am about to get divorced because of the car and all the issues and expense it is causing.

if it was the bulbs you would get a bulb out warning on your cluster. sounds more like a fuse.

Have you put the light switch to manual side light position. This should give a bulb failure warning on the dash if one or more of the bulbs has gone. With the light switch in the 'Auto' position it may not give the dash warning. I know this sounds wrong but I had this on a B6 Sport myself, but as I always left the switch in the auto position it didn't give a warning until in the manual side light only position.

When I had mine in north American drl light mode they didn't work either. The dip beam only came on with the handbrake off and I had no sidelights at the front, when I turned the mode off so no drl's the sidelights worked again, so could be a coding issue in vcds?

We're you using led bulbs? Cause the canbus system can cut the supply if it detects a faulty bulb?

Try your parking lights...... indicator stalk down or up, remove key, open door, you should get a warning tone, get out and lock car and see if your sidelights work front and rear?

Also try disconnecting the cars battery for a few hours or over night, that should reset the canbus system if it's got confused which mine often does!

Ensure you know your radio code and how to lock unlock manually!

Thanks for responses all. Ended up being coding but up until recently they had been working fine, so back to standard lights now, shame as I would love to have DRL, I know not to everyone's taste but I like them.

I wish, sorry I mean yes thankfully. She hates the car as much as me at the moment, what with all the disappointment of PX value. She has said she will be picking my next car... Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 diesel has to be over 10 years old and under £200.

For sale 1 wife, good runner, when she sees me with auto trader!!!
