Audi a6 avant mmi no sound & crackling from speakers

Please help, i have a 2005 audi a6 avant, the sound went completely so i can't hear the radio or cds, the cds won't even play, you can select a track but the time doesn't go up. You can still select stuff on the mmi screen. There's a loud cracking sound that comes from the speakers now and again.
Any ideas?????

Under the front passenger footwell is a join which can come undone, this can occur just because it does or having wrong mix of screenwash can mean it freezes and forces joins open and can cause leaks/splits in other places.

Also at the left hinge pipework can crack due to use, there is a recall which dealer will do for free... Attachment 16560

If split at hinge occurs can seep down and drench MMI rack behind left trim in boot...

If it is this I hope you have no permanent damage, if this is not issue then post again someone else may have another idea for you...

Took a look this morning, put rear wiper screen wash on and bingo free shower directly on the amp. Phoned up my local Audi dealer and got it booked in for next Sat, it is a recall problem and they will fix it FOC but wouldn't pay for a new amp. So need to source a second hand one (working!!!).

Sorry to hear that mate, AMP has component protection.. so its not just a straight swap.. do you have BOSE sound? If you need part no PM or ask your dealer....

Try ebay for spares, there is a ebay seller q7parts which seems to advertise component protection removal check this listing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-Q7-Q5...item2570241eb8

Your Audi dealer can remove CP as well....

Just been to Audi main dealer this morning to get the recall done. All fine now and they said they would even replace the amp now FOC so woop, woop!!!!!!! Good all round.

Just out of interest do you use that dealer for servicing? purchase car from them? etc,etc..

As that is not a cheap part there have been instants where people get no goodwill from dealer...

And on this joyous occasion will not dilute it with rant about my experience with main dealer when I first got my car...

No I havn't used them for servicing nor did I even buy the car from them. I bought the car quite a few miles away so it has never been there. I only bought the car about 6 weeks ago and this happened a few weeks ago. But good result.
