What mileage should I get this changed at? Have tried a search but got surprisingly few results. Have seen 60,000 and 80,000 mentioned but REALLY don't want to get caught out on this for obvious reasons.

    Thanks

I always thought it was 60k or 4 years whatever comes first.

The Service Schedule says 114,000 miles/180,000 kms and if this is what Audi recommend what comeback do we have as Audi owners if this goes before that time?
This strikes me as a bit irresponsible especially as the warranty runs out after 60k and that they do not do this under warranty unless the belt goes before before 60k.
It is a bit of a way from 60k to 114k to be unsure when to do this?

Thanks for the replies, would love to know if anyone has any thoughts on the above as my car is rapidly approaching 60k and while I want to be safe I also don't want to spend 500 notes if I don't need to!

    Thanks

Hi. My car is now on 104k, it was a company car from new, and audi changed the belt when it had a service at 72k. obviously im not sure if this is because they were asked to, or they recommend it

In case anyone's interested I checked with the dealer when collecting my car yesterday and according to them, in a 2.0 tdi 143bhp in a 2008 B8 A4 (you can never be too specific!) the cam belt needs changing at 75,000 miles

Probably sensible to do it before this sort of mileage, however they have massively beefed up the CAM belt hardware compared to the older 1.9 and 2.0 diesels so I guess 80K would be early enough to do this.

The cam belt on the 1.9TDi's was a beast too. Normally it would be about 60,000 miles or 4 years, whichever comes first (as stated before), but in honesty they can last must longer than that. Its worth getting it inspected when you have a service to see the state it is in. Personally I don't risk it, the cost of the potential damage from a failed cam-belt far outstrips any cost of replacing the belt and tensioner.

P.s Always worth a thought: the Water-pump is driven by the cam belt. They generally don't last huge miles..so its worth considering changing the water pump at the same time. If the water pump fails, you will be needing a new cam belt regardless of how long ago it was last changed.

Audi recommend changing at 75K miles.
Most lease companies will let the belts run to 120k before they change them, so give you an idea that they are pretty robust.
