    Hi,

I've had the glow plug light flash on and off on my Audi after a few miles on a run with a loss in power (vehicle still drives just flat) once the engine management light has come on however this has been reset and a code of P0299 has been read on a VCDS.

The car has been checked by another Tech today who comes up with the same code and information along the lines of Turbo Charger under boost, Permanent.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated please?

    Manny,

Vacuum depletion from collapsed pipe under load, you need a boost reading and vacuum line pressure prior to looking at the turbo as turbo's rarely fail but often replaced

Again load it up in third gear not at idle due the rev limiter function

Engine code would be helpful as well IF ITS A 2.0 PD THEN MOST LIKELY TO BE THIS ( vacuum unit of intake manifold ) IF FITTED, THESE UNITS FAIL AND DEPLETE VACUUM

    SEE ATTACHED PHOTO

    Check this

Check air filter and boost pressure system (seal)

Check boost pressure sensor and accelerator pedal to make sure values are plausible

Data block 10: Check boost pressure sensor against the atmospheric pressure sensor of the engine control unit

(must be less than 50 mbar difference )

Data block 2: 99-100% has to be achieved in the pedal movement sensor test, when the accelerator is slowly depressed.

Basic setting, exhaust return valve and boost pressure controller:

Basic setting 03: Check exhaust return valve

Basic setting 11: Check boost pressure of exhaust turbocharger. Check vacuum control unit (ATL) with hand vacuum pump

guide vane setting moves from 100 - 200 mbar, maximum setting is approx. 550 –650 mbar.

Check synchronisation angle VALVE TIMING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Data block 4/4: Check setpoint value +/- 3° for synchronisation angle/valve timing. If outside the tolerance, check valve timing and adjust.

    GOOD LUCK

Any update on the issue. My CEL came on yesterday. I didn't notice a loss of power with the light...the only thing that happened, which might just be a coincidence, is the A/C suddenly blew hot for a few seconds, the CEL came on, then cold air again. Took it to the dealer. When they called they didn't say exactly what the fault code was, but that the car needs a new turbo assembly. My vehicle is an '09 A4 2.0T with 67k miles on it. I'm waiting to hear back, the service tech said he wanted to talk to his GM about it. Any ideas? Is there a known problem with the turbo assembly for this vehicle? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
