    Hi

    Driving a 2007 Passat Saloon 140 TDI.

My engine decided to develop a fault accelarting away from an island and shut down 'Garage Engine Fault!' on the A43. Not a pleasant experience on the way home from a break but managed to get off on a slip road. The AA had a really good go at getting it going and narrowed it down to a shot fuel pump as the likely culprit (the sender in the tank, not the tandem) and hopefully not the injectors, no fault codes were showing. So home on the back of the truck watching all those other TDIs flying past.

I've got a replacement (£130ish) and fitted it but now the car will turnover well but not catch (as though it is immobilised), a STOP! Oil pressure! warning appears on the dash after about 10 seconds of cranking (though the oil level is fine). There's plenty of fuel getting through to the filter now. I've already suffered the tandem fuel pump problem and had that replaced over a year ago, the car has been great since.

This seems to have been a problem on earlier models, but I haven't seen much on problems starting after the replacement fuel pump. Anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers

Has it had the injector recall done? Don't worry about the oil pressure warning under cranking, all modern VAG products do this under extended cranking.

No, there's no mention of the injector recall in the service history or docs.

    Hi

I have a 2007 140 TDI (bought June last year with 59K and FVWSH) and rather than wait for the injector 'campaign' letter, I rang the VW main dealer (JCT 600) who booked the car in, supplied a courtesy car and replaced 3 injectors and the wiring loom all free of charge last week - really good service. The service receptionist told me that the injector problem was limited to 2008 models but VW were going back to 2005 models to check as goodwill - Ha Ha.

Anyway, it might be worth ringing the dealer and getting your car in for a check - i was told that they remove the injectors, check the serial numbers and replace the faulty ones, the wiring loom is also replaced as a part of the recall.

    Regards

    Laurie

Get on with it Tuesday morning! Call the local dealer and they will deal with it from there...

OK, thanks for the advice, I'll get onto VW and have the injectors sorted anyway, hopefully without argument. Are you saying that it's really an injector fault and the fuel pump is a red herring, wouldn't it show as an engine code fault? I still have the problem that the car is immobile following the fuel pump replacement, as though it needs resetting in some way, I'm going to try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery though that seems like a long shot.

A code read will tell you instantly if the injectors are the fault.

Thanks for the help but not having much luck here, no fault codes showing on the injectors (though I will follow this up with VW). Fuel getting through but still just cranking; maybe a pressure thing but plenty seems to be coming through? Some kind of link between the pump and the immobiliser? It's driving me mad! (actually not driving me anywhere at all)

The immobiliser being faulty would show itself by the engine starting and then stopping immediately so if it is not doing that, it is not the immobiliser as far as I can tell, plus you would get a fault code.
