    Hi all,
New A6 '08 Le Mans owner here. A few questions to the experts if you don't mind....I'm thinking upgrades already.....

    1) I have MMI - how do I tell which version I have (MMI 2G / 3G etc)? It's DVD-based sat nav with a full cover screen, I have AMI and bluetooth phone prep too.
    2) The voice control works fine from the steering wheel button, but only controls the telephone function. The car manual suggests there are voice functions for the rest of the car (specifically radio and sat nav), but these aren't available. (Saying 'help' confirms the only commands are phone-based). Is there an ECU upgrade to update the voice control to the whole car?
    3) Is it easy to retrofit a tv module to this car?
    4) Would the recommendation of the group be to get a remap to improve the performance and economy of the 2. engine?

    Many thanks.
    Jeremy. :0)

Is your car a pre-facelift model with the indicator side repeaters on the front wings, and no LED DRLs? If so, you have MMI 2G High. If you have the post-facelift model with the indicator side repeaters in the door mirror housings and six LED DRLs inside the base of each headlight, you have MMI 3G low.

    Hi MFGF,

Many thanks for taking the time to reply. I have concluded that it's a pre-facelift MMI 2G High model, as I definitely have no DRLs on my car. 1 down, 3 to go - the information quest continues!

    Cheers.
    Jeremy.

    Hi Jeremy,

I'll try and answer these to the best of my knowledge

    2) The voice control works fine from the steering wheel button, but only controls the telephone function. The car manual suggests there are voice functions for the rest of the car (specifically radio and sat nav), but these aren't available. (Saying 'help' confirms the only commands are phone-based). Is there an ECU upgrade to update the voice control to the whole car?
The commands in my car are phone based too. Im not sure if MMi 2G came with full functionality to control radio, nav etc. MMI 3G has this function though to control the whole MMI.

    3) Is it easy to retrofit a tv module to this car?
I'm sure it would be eay enough but having a quick look on eBay you're looking £570+ just for the tuner alone not including all the aerials and cables needed too.

Apparently if you fit the tuner, its easier to fit the reversing camera at the same time

    4) Would the recommendation of the group be to get a remap to improve the performance and economy of the 2. engine?
JimC64 has had his 2.0 TDi 140 remapped to ~180bhp and he gives it praise everytime I see him posting about it Have a look here https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/f...-Site-Sponsors .. We have numerous remapping companies sponsoring the site and I'm sure some sort of deal could be done I know the 3.0 TDi can be remapped to around 280-300bhp so I'm sure the 2.7 would be a bit less than that.

Any more info you need, don't hesitate to ask!

    A6_Chris,

Many thanks for the info. I'll have a look at remaps and maybe park the TV tuner for a while (the wife will have to wait for that one!) I may ask my main dealer (where the car came from - Bath Audi) if it's possible to upgrade the voice ECU to enable whole car control on the 2G MMI - I'll report back either way. The weird thing is the manual says you can do it for the whole car, the salesman and I sat for about an hour playing with it when I collected the car!

    Cheers.
    Jeremy.

As far as I know, the voice control is a module that plugs into the audio system in the boot.. obviously also needs to be coded to the car with VCDS..

I think it is as simple as that..

    Hi Einstein.

Cool - good shout! Would be excellent if it was as simple as that (although it rarely is I find with cars......oh the days or replacing the drive rods on my 2CV....) I don't suppose you have any information on part codes or links to something pertinent? Initial searches either fruitless or bogged down in sales websites.....)

    Many thanks.
    Jeremy.

    Hi,

With regards to question 4. I bought a 2.7 Le Mans a couple of months ago and had it re-mapped last week and the improvement is definitely worth it. The car is a lot quicker and nicer to drive and I have had a small improvement in MPG.

I had the car mapped by a chap called Paul at expert tuning, he uses a company called quantum tuning http://quantumtuning.co.uk/quantum-dealers.aspx

    Hope this helps.
