    Hi,
I am replacing the outer cv joint an Audi 1.9 tdi 130 awx and noticed the top control arm was worn. Removing the pich bolt of death has damaged the knuckle at the end . I've rang a few breakers but a bit thin on ground, so couple of questions.

    1. My knuckle is aluminium from an 05 car can in replace with steel or better like for like?
    2. Will a knuckle from another vehicle fit , Audi A4 1.9 tdi?

If I get really stuck I suppose I could get it repaired , it's small piece but obviously important!?20230419_170045.jpg

One of my lads has just spent three hours trying to release the top arm on one side a 2017 type 8W A4, still the same stupid problem! The bolt would turn but the corrosion would not let it come out. If you have cracked the ally, it must be replaced, you must not weld suspension components. We once cracked one on a type 8K which cost us £600 in parts so now we only use a 2Kw induction heater.

I feel 20230420_120000.jpgfor the lad, probaly questioning his life choices after 3 hours -they are horrible! I suppose it's just heating and tapping without being too rough! I should count myself lucky i found a knuckle off ebay for £50 delivered.
Looks like I'll need a bottom suspension arm as the ball joint end doesn't have a clip on and I think it should so grease has probably squished out?

I meant to ask about this... the top bolt problem.
You have an induction heater at your place don't you, do you still get hassle even using that?
