What can I do with VCDS?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and also a new Audi owner, but not to VAG range of cars.

What I would like to know is what are the typical sort of settings can I change with VCDS in terms of how the care operates?
For example, I have heard of needle swing check on ignition on, increase in number of indicator flashes for momentary use etd...
What else do people usually go for and am I restricted with my MY A3?

What year is your a3?

I have done alarm chirp, drl with rear taillights, cornering fogs, auto lock/unlock doors. You can change the indicator ticks through vcds too.

Only the s3 and rs3 support needle sweep afaik

Are you thinking of the shareware, Lite or full version of VCDS?
