Hi, I just bought a 08 S-Line and I'm disapointed with the brightness of the MMI screen
I have tried adjusting the dash light control, and the in menu display brighness control, but it only seems to dim/brighten the display by a miniscule amount
Its virtually unreadable during daylight hours, and still fairly dim at night
My previous 07 avant with the RNS-E satnav had a good bright screen
Have I got a faulty backlight or is this normal?
    thanks

sounds faulty to me - on full brightness it should be relatively blinding at night

It may be a light sensor fault, as on my A6 all the instrument lighting dims/ brightens according to the outside light.

    Hi Siray
Yes, I got it sorted - I picked up a new screen from eBay , and it works perfectly - back to full brightness.

Nice one, think I'm going to have to do the same. Mines only done 63000 tho which is annoying.

Was it easy to fit, I hear they are easy to do?, can you remember how much it cost you off eBay.

    Ta.

Very easy to fit - the silver plastic shroud just pulls off - just leave the hazard light connected and set it on top of the dash
then you need a torx driver ( can't remember what size ) to remove the 4 screws, pull out the screen , and unplug the cable .
Fitting new screen is the same in reverse

Do you know is ccfl lamp under instrument cluster DIS LCD also and which are dimensions? I've changed all white LEDs under instrument cluster gauges but now they are much more brighter than original ones were before so I have to change ccfl under DIS LCD to match with surrounding LED brightnes and color
