    Default A6 1.9 TDI 5 speed manual gearbox – 07-02-2012,10:26 PM
    my gearbox has started making a rattling noise, rattles when idling, when clutch engaged still makes a noise.\no problem changing gears. Any ideas as to what may be problem? Thanks

    If you press the clutch and engage a gear nothing is rotating in the box. However what you describe could well be failing Dual Mass Flywheel. Regards Peter

    thank you , have taken to garage this morning and its exactly that, the flywheel, need new clutch as well apparently. thanks for your help.

    Prices vary most expensive 134 for clutch, 300 for flywheel and 247 for 5.5hrs labour.
    Cheapest 649 all in. Does this sound about right?

    Sounds cheap for a sachs or OEM DMF, pressure plate, clutch and release bearing. Audi would charge you £1300/1400 Regards Peter
