Whats the difference between the 150hp and 180hp 2.5 tdi? Is it basically the same with the same gas mileage but one has less power? I can see that the 150 has a little higher compression ratio and the 180 has a common rail system. I think there is a difference in intercoolers between the two as well?

how about tuning wise. Can they reach similar levels? Is it easier to tune one of the other?

My 180 AKE isnt common rail, its on a Bosch VP44 pump. The 180 has twin all alloy IC's where as i think the 150 just has the plastic ended ones, so cant take the same boost. Dont know about mpg though, im lucky to top 35 round town but ive got a heavy right foot! on the motorway i swear it runs on air!

As for tuning, ive hearf the AKE is goor for 3-400 bhp on standard bottom ends with slightly lower compression. You can get Bosio race nozzles for the injectors, and certain Iveco truck engine ones fit, but not sure which. The turbo can be swapped for a few others which have varying increases in boost and power with each having good and bad points. Adamss24 is the man to ask as he knows the V6'2 inside out!

yeah I probably should pm adam... anyway ya I was just wondering if I got a 150 quattro if it would be that much worse. The compression ratio might be the important factor here..

I take it your thinking of tuning it? I dont know if they did the 150 in a Quattro on the B6 platform, B5 they did.

Well the B5 is probalby better build quality wise, but a B6 is better handling, and way nicer interior, looks are similar tbh i like both!
