    SOLUTION!!!!
Just to let everyone know, I have an Audi A4 B8 2009 2.0TDI Engine, i have done my research just like everyone else about this annoying dipstick issue. My dipstick tube is located underneath engine cover with a plug.

I found a solution at long last!!!!

I purchased this dipstick which was perfectly correct for my vehicle on eBay- CLICK HERE

Now I can always check my oil level on both MMI and manually finally.

I looked at the Laser Tools, but thought it wasn't good enough. Now my dipstick fits even under the engine cover just for when I need to use it lol

And the seller comes from the same area as you. Really handy, you can pop round and pick it up. What a stroke of luck.

I bought a Laser 4807 dipstick today for my 2010 A4 B8 2.0 tdi quattro. It came with no instructions.

The latest instructions on Laser website are different to those posted by Crasher.
    Laser 4807.jpg

I have set it to 62mm as per instructions and it barely registers at the '0' level with oil.

Anybody used one of these lately with a 2.0 tdi engine? Should I be using 46mm as the start mark?

I bought mine from Sealey Audi Engine Dipstick 600mm VS600ED | eBay

Set top aduster ring to 46mm and fill oil up to level 25mm on lower scale - (make sure stick is fully inserted ie the bevel face of adjustment ring is sitting right in the dipstick hole) my MMI always reads "oil level OK" for me at this level.
As sanity before you remove oil - set adjuster to 46mm and Dip check to see where your current oil level is at on lower scale

    Thanks.
It looks identical to the Laser version.
I guess the most important aspect is the length of the dipstick and the distance from the bottom of it to your 46mm marker point isn't it?

Just for information in case anybody else is looking for a dipstick for their 2.0 tdi:

It turns out the instructions at the time I downloaded them (and posted my previous message) were wrong

After having trouble using the Lasertools 4807 dipstick, I contacted them and got this reply:

    "Thank you for your enquiry.
The Laser 4807 dipstick is compatible with your Audi 2.0 TDI CR engine.
The measurement to set the adjuster ring on the dipstick is 46mm.
The maximum oil level on the bottom scale is 24mm.
The minimum oil level on the bottom scale is 0mm
    Sorry for any inconvenience."

I have now adjusted the setting and am getting a perfectly good reading.
This also means that if you connect your car to VagCom/VCDS to get your oil level readings and they read about 78.500mm they are within the healthy range...
