Hey guys, ive got a problem on a mk5 2.0 tdi. The steering went solid and the red steering wheel light came on, the next day it was fine and now the fault has come back, i have looked in the manual and its an electromechanical system with no fluid.
Called the AA out, who checked the fuses and said they cant diagnose what it is and for me to take it to a auto electrician, what a waste of time that was!!

Any ideas what might be wrong or need sorting?
    Thanks very much!

You need a fault code scan to point you in the right direction. It's just guesswork otherwise.

i had this same fault on mine and the torque sensor is part of the rack and CAN NOT be replaced on its own, ive got a second hand rack that is in perfect working order, where are you located? If your interested in the rack and your not to far away i can always fit it for you?
