Hi, I have an 07 Passat 2L TDI SE with 92k on the clock, came home tonight to go out in it & parking brake wont release, warning lights are on & audible tones sounding ffs. Rang up local VW inchscape in Shrewsbury, thay told me to dissconect the battery for 3 minutes & it should reset,, tried it twice with no luck, tried cycling ignition with no luck,, how can i realease this damn brake so at least we can drive the car? VW just said it will have to be recovered ***,, got to be a way. Please bear in mind I am a complete car novice,, I can change oil and filters, front brake pads, but this seems way beyond me unless someone can come up with an easish solution,, vw also said it might be the switch ? so please can anyone help me. mucho apppreciated.

It;s easy to release the epb. Work out which wheel is stuck.
    Jack up and remove wheel.
Unbolt caliper motor (2 torx screws)
Back off cetral caliper torx drive by one turn.
    Refit epb motor and wheel.
    Get switch replaced.

well I took motor off (no cracks) the stuck wheel and backed off torx screw but maybe more than one turn before wheel freed,, put all back together fitted new switch, still saying brake problem have both parking brake lights illuminated one yellow one red, and an annoying audible bong while driving, at least i can now drive it to local garage, havnt tried parking brake since incase it sticks again,, hope garage can diagnose and sort it out,, what else can cause brake to stick on?

It is usually a seized gear cluster in the epb motor housing. make sure the garage know what they are doing or you will end up paying for two new calipers and even an epb control module.

I had one last week, split casing and water damage to offside rear calliper, it would not release. Jacked it up, pulled the motor off, wound the thread back and drove it back to work. Fitted a new motor, nothing. Sent the car to VW for a software flash, fried ECU. VW UK only have 88 ECU's in stock so it is not a big problem, is it! I ask you, what was wrong with a lever and cables?

car is in garage, no power getting to passenger side motor,, doing a software update to see if that fixes it(after i fitted new switch) but looks like its a fried control box, going to see if its reparible first, or if it needs a new one at £279 plus vat ffs,, give me a cable brake any time,, going to be a big bill for a stupid problem,, on the plus side whaen i telephoned VW shrewsbury gave them my reg to ask for new EPB control box they told me my car is due a recall all new injectors & wiring £2k so thats being done on 2nd Feb.

The injectors are not a £2k job any more, they are now less than £200 each retail, never mind what they cost VAG DE.
