    Hello, does anyone have any experience of the following, the seat belt warning light (and sound) appear even though I've got my seat belt on, the car has been checked via computer but it doesn't apparently register as a fault, I have just purchased the car (2008 143 avant) and the problem didn't occour until I got it home, I've got a warranty with the car so should be no problem getting it fixed, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips on what it could be, It's effecting the automatic hand brake as the seat belt isn't registering as being on.
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    thanks

    Simon

    Whether the computer detects it or not there's obviously a problem so get it fixed under your warranty.

    I've actually disabled mine with VCDS. I move the car around on my drive and I prefer the ebrake to work normally when doing so regardless of if my belts on or off. I also didn't want the nag on the display and it bonging away when the belts off.

    Disable Seatbelt Chime
    [17 - Instruments] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 0
    Bit 2-4 – Seat Belt Warning inactive

    Enable Release Parking Brake without putting seatbelt
    [53 - Parking Brake][Security Access - 16] (Enter code presented by program)
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 7 Set to 0

    I know this sounds daft, but are you putting anything like a coat or a bag on the passenger seat? I used to toss my coat there and it sometimes set off the seatbelt warning. Incredibly annoying.
