I'm fairly certain it was the EGR fault that pinged the light on. We cleared the faults and they didn't return, so Tonly left me with no faults across the board. Does anyone know if it was just "one of those things" (the frequency was 1) or does he have a problem which is likely to recur?

    Thanks,

    MF.

The adaptation for the nav eject lock was already set at 0 (unlocked!) I managed to eject the disk by setting the "Eject" adaptation to 1 and hitting Test, but we couldn't get the button to work at all.

VCDS was doing odd things with the adaptations too - I could plug a value into the Test field and test, but the save button remained greyed out. I was planning to set the Eject lock to 1 (locked) then back to 0 (unlocked) to see if it fixed the issue, but I couldn't even get that far. I'm wondering if there was a security code I should have entered first?

I think Tony is planning to buy his own cable - I have sent him details of the UK suppliers for Ross Tech, and a link to the cable I bought on the Gendan website.

    Cheers!

I had lots of problems like this with vcds 11.10 but bugs fixed with 11.11 also I did a clean install and force deleted the usb drivers and its fine now

Most of my problems appeared in address 46 and vcds kept dropping out but since the above its back to normal

As for the egr flow then remove the intake manifold motor and clean out the egr port

Glow plug fault would be a straight forward just carefully remove the wiring plug check the resistance
connect a multimeter red cable to the glow plug and black to engine earth and read off in ohms

you need a reading of 1.0 ohm for a serviceable glow plug

or check the amp draw and calculate for all 6

    example

Each glow plug = 150 watts so 4 glow plugs = 600 watts
current = watts divided by volts: 600 watts divided by 12 volts = 50 amps

so you would see a 50amp draw at beginning if all 4 are in order then it will go down to 0 with the relay on/off time

you can check also in mvb's

I have VCDS 11.11 64 bit, but I didn't do a clean install - I just allowed it to update itself from 11.10. I will uninstall the software and USB driver totally, download it all again from Ross-Tech and do a clean install.

Thanks for the great info! I'm sure it will be useful for Tony - he might pop back after Christmas so we can re-scan to check for any recurring faults. I can check the measured value blocks for the glow plugs and I can try setting the eject lock again while he's here.

    Cheers!

If the egr fault has returned then clean the throttle motor to remove the blockage to the egr port

If its the glow plug than follow the earlier advise
