Fault code 19463

I have fault code 19463 , camshaft positioning sensor , car is struggling to start glow plugs have been just renewed had fault codes for them now gone , But have this 19463 bugger up , any idea where it is , and is it easy to replace

if its a 1.9 TDI the camshaft sensor is under the top cam belt cover by the camshaft sprocket

1.9 tdi , can this affect the starting of the car ,

yes the camshaft sensor can effect starting as the sensor tells the ECU where it is (if you follow me) i dont think its a bad job to change it, the crank sensor is the nightmare to change tho

Hi Phil changed sensor today but still have that fault code 19463 coming up and car still trying to start , where is the fuses to this ,

If you have replaced the sensor with a new VW item and the code is still there i would then check the wiring for the sensor back to the ecu, iirc the ecu is under the scuttle panel and it's not unheard of for moisture to corrode the terminals and throw up error codes, if you need an ecu wiring diagram post up your cars age and engine code and I will post it up mate

Hi Phil , i bought the sensor from a motor factor its not a genuine VW one £16 . The Vw one was £85 from dealer could this be the problem , Is there a a way to test the power from the sensor .

I think your next step should be to check you have power there with a multi meter and check the wiring for continuity to check that no wiring is broken if you need a wiring diagram I can email you one

Hi Phil hope you are still an active member. I have the same problem after installing a reconditioned engine. The ODIS software is coming up the 19465 Camshaft position sensor no signal. Have you or can you point me to a set of wiring diagrams that will enable me to chech whether the fault is the sensor, the fuse (not sure which one it is within the engine control fuse box, it says 7E/7F in the test plan) or a wiring problem. Thanks in advance
